The purpose of these groups is simple: to help one another hear God’s Word, believe God’s Word, obey God’s Word, and encourage one another as we follow Christ together.

These groups are not intended to replace the preaching ministry of the church or to become another Bible study with entirely new material. Rather, they are an opportunity for us to return to the Word that was preached on Sunday and help it take deeper root in our lives through discussion, prayer, and mutual encouragement.

Meeting Location and Times

Thursday — 6:30 p.m.
Location - The Provos home

Beginning date -  Thursday, September 24th.

What Will the Groups Be Like?

The format will be simple and intentionally focused.

Prayer
Each group will begin and end with prayer. Ideally, one of these times will be devoted especially to praying for the specific needs and requests of those in the group. We want these gatherings to be places where we are not only discussing truth together but genuinely caring for and praying for one another.

Sermon Discussion
The majority of our time will be spent discussing the previous Sunday’s sermon. The purpose of that discussion is to clarify what was communicated in the sermon, help drive home the implications of God’s Word, encourage deeper meditation upon what we have heard, and help one another pursue faithful obedience to God’s Word.

Some of the kinds of things we will seek to do together are:

• Clarify what the biblical text and sermon communicated.
• Think carefully about the implications of God’s Word for our lives.
• Encourage deeper meditation on the truths we have heard.
• Identify specific ways we should respond in faith and obedience.
• Encourage and pray for one another as we seek to put God’s Word into practice.

Our hope is that these groups will help us become a church in which the ministry of the Word continues throughout the week—not merely as something we hear on Sunday, but as truth we talk about together, pray over together, and increasingly live out together. We also hope these gatherings will create additional opportunities for hospitality, evangelism, and the many “one another” ministries Scripture calls us to pursue as we welcome others into our homes, bear one another’s burdens, encourage one another, pray for one another, and build one another up in Christ.
